Albuquerque is especially suited for an outdoors Offering of Letters. After all, the Duke City basks in
310 days of sunshine every year. Sometimes the wind picks up in the spring, but there are also many calm days during the season. It was on a sunny, calm and mild day in May that
St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church held its Offering of Letters. Members of the congregation wrote a total of 140 letters to Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Sen. Martin Heinrich and Sen. Tom Udall, urging them to prioritize support for
maternal and child health programs, emphasizing nutrition. The messages from St. Michael and All Angels bring our totals in New Mexico
close to 1,500 letters.
Other congregations and schools that have participated in our campaign this year include Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary (and South Valley Preparatory and Holy Ghost Schools), Albuquerque Mennonite Church, All Saints Lutheran Church, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, St. Timothy Lutheran Church, and Peace Lutheran Church in Las Cruces).
