Please spread the word! We have invited three special guests from the New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty, the New Mexico Farmers Marketing Association and Roadrunner Food Bank) to illustrate how a program like SNAP is beneficial to a broad group of people in New Mexico (and the loss of funding, as proposed in President Trump's budget, could hurt these low-income families and individuals). Of course, our letter-writing campaign seeks to preserve a host of domestic and international nutrition programs. By focusing on SNAP, we're hoping to make the topic of this year's campaign directly relevant to our participating congregations.
You're Invited
Dear Carlos,
In 2018, funding for vital domestic and international anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs is again at risk of deep cuts. Members of Congress from New Mexico need to hear from their constituents that funding for anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs is a priority.
You are invited to a 2018 Offering of Letters workshop on March 17, 2018 in Albuquerque.
Your participation in this year’s 2018 Offering of Letters: For Such a Time as This is one way to ensure Congress hears from you. Come and meet others in your community who are putting their faith into action.
At the workshop, you will learn about this year’s issues and how to conduct a successful Offering of Letters event in your church or community.
When: 9:30 a.m. to noon on March 17, 2018
Where: St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 Indian School Rd. NE (map)
Additional Details: Workshop speakers include Sovereign Hager, supervising attorney at the New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty; Sarah Lucero, program specialist at the New Mexico Farmers Marketing Association; and Jason Riggs, SNAP outreach program manager, Roadrunner Food Bank.
Learn more on the Bread New Mexico Blog. The workshop is free but registration is required.

Together, we must urge Congress to develop a federal budget that serves the common good and offers help and opportunity for all people—especially those struggling to put food on the table.
Sincerely,
