Alliance to End Hunger Thanks Congress for Funding Famine Relief

Earlier this  year, the Alliance to End Hunger launched a campaign to urge Congress to provide emergency relief to four areas experience or at risk of famine: South Sudan, Somalia, northern Nigeria and Yemen. In part because of efforts by the alliance and other anti-hunger advocates in our country, Congress took the appeal to heart and approved $1 billion for this much-needed effort.

In this tweet from the Alliance, the group's executive director emeritus Tony Hall offers his gratitude to Congress and to everyone who reached out to their representative to include the famine-relief funds in a recent budget decision. Hall, a former member of Congress from Ohio and ex-ambassador to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), also discussed the issue during an address to a Congressional-Diplomatic Dialogue.
