'We are Allies' in the God-given Charge to Fight Climate Change

Jihad Turk, founding president of  Bayan Claremont, an Islamic graduate school in Southern California, was the keynote speaker at the 2016 annual meeting of New Mexico Interfaith Power and Light on Saturday, November 5. The video below shows the last 4-5 minutes of his address.  And here is an excerpt of what he said.
"I was encouraged when Pope Francis released his encyclical on the environment. And that got worldwide attention  because Catholics have a pope. Muslims  leaders around the country are saying the same thing, but we don't have a pope. There was a summit on the environment in Instanbul, and there was an Islamic declaration on climate change. There's hope...that we can as people of people of faith come together and be on the same side...We have as allies as one another--people who take this God-given charge seriously."

Several organizations and individuals were recognized at the NMIPL gathering for their work on environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change. Here are a few photographs.
