World Homeless Day on Friday, October 10. In Albuquerque,
ABQ Cares For All organized
a public gathering the next day at Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque. About 300 people attended this community event on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. A number of fun activities were featured. There was reggae music that got people up dancing. There was art-making for parents and children and everyone else (ArtStreet's table). And there was a huge "Blessings for Burque" backpack giveaway to folks who were homeless, stocked with food and toiletry items.
Organizers said the purpose of the event was to foster community among Albuquerqueans: housed and “non-housed.” with our common interest being to draw attention to the need for everyone in Albuquerque to have a home.
