On June 20, the full House of Representatives voted 234 to 195 to turn down the farm bill that was sent over by the House Agriculture Committee. This was a victory for anti-hunger adovcates because the measure contained $20.5 billion in cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and reductions in funding for other anti-poverty programs, including foreign aid.
