First Week in Lent February 17-23
Jesus Faces Temptation
Deuteronomy 26:1-11 Romans 10:8b-13 Psalm 91:1-2, 9-16 Luke 4:1-13
You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, ill say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.’
Lent is a time to remember those who live in a desert not of their choosing, those who have been deserted and forgotten. —Lawrence Cunningham, emeritus professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame
O Christ, in your death and resurrection, you have conquered all the forces of evil. During these days of Lent, may we be strengthened by your Spirit, so that we might serve God b helping those who suffer from the evil of hunger. Amen.
